Mercer Street Books & Records is now in its 33rd year at 206 Mercer Street, open noon to 8pm daily and filled to the gunnels with used and out-of-print books in almost any imaginable subject. They have LPs too. Everyone who works there is a writer in some field or other, so one of them is bound to have found the thing you are looking for. The shop has also started publishing books under its own imprint.
