Monster Melodies has traded from Rue des Déchargeurs, a narrow street a minute from Châtelet, since 1985, which makes it one of the few Paris shops to have come through the CD years and the digital years without moving or closing. The shop bills itself as France's largest collection of rare vinyl records and music memorabilia, and the memorabilia is not a sideline - posters, press kits and promotional oddities are stacked alongside the racks. It is a rarities shop rather than a new-release shop, so the stock rewards digging rather than browsing.
