Mr Vinyl is owned by Bret Dugmore and began in 2013 as an online-only vinyl record store. After building momentum in ecommerce and at vinyl faires it went from clicks to bricks, opening its store at 44 Stanley in Johannesburg in 2017. It specialises in new and second hand records, delivered to your door or dug through in person at Shop G14/D, with everything graded from new sealed down through near mint to fair so you know what you are buying. The genre spread covers rock and alternative, metal, electronic and EDM, hip hop, blues, soul and jazz, pop, classical, reggae, country, folk, funk, house, techno, world and a dedicated South African section. There are turntables, amplifiers, phono stages and speakers from Rega, Pioneer, Audio Technica, Argon Audio and Jamo, plus a vinyl flattening service, custom orders and a sell your records desk.
