Music Rebel opened in 1995 as a shop in Cologne's student quarter with records and CDs across most genres, then narrowed from around 1998 to roots reggae, dancehall, dub, ska and rocksteady. Regular imports from Jamaica, the USA, Britain, France and Japan pulled in collectors and sound systems well beyond Cologne, the online shop went up in 2002, and the Selectors Choice stock was absorbed at the end of 2006. There has been no shopfront since 2008, but the list runs to more than 10,000 available titles on 7-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch, LP and CD. Collectors and second-hand departments sit alongside the new stock, plus sleeves and accessories.
