MusicZone was set up in 2001 by Ray O'Brien, who had spent years working at Golden Discs on Patrick Street and then managed its Wilton branch from 1998, and who opened his own shop in his home city because he already knew he loved music retail. He writes about the shop as a place for building relationships through music, whether that means tracking down a rare record for a long term collector or talking a young customer into King Crimson. It carries the largest selection of records in Cork and Munster along with CDs and hi-fi, and ships free within Ireland.
