Newtone Records deals in imported records, cassettes, CDs and digital downloads out of Osaka, and its beat is alternative house music, disco, dub, techno and breakbeats through to reggae, afro and mutant dance music from anywhere in the world. The shop splits its floor into house and disco, with underground house, deep house, disco and balearic, crossover and classics; techno and bass, with IDM and electro, dubstep, UKG and breaks, minimal and experimental techno and ambient; hip hop and funk, with R&B, nu soul, downtempo, rare groove and reggae; and rock, world and other, taking in jazz, alternative, pop and electronica. Every 12-inch gets a written note, and there are used bins, DJ equipment, books and wear alongside.
