Niche has been run by the same family since 2003 and has grown into the largest independent record shop in Romania, on Strada Arcușului a short way out from the centre. The weight is rock and metal, alternative, jazz and classical, plus a serious audiophile shelf and - less expected in Bucharest - Japanese pressings and K-pop. Vinyl, CD, Blu-ray, DVD, a small cassette section and the band shirts, and it will order in anything it does not have, which is what being the country's main independent actually means in practice.
