Alan Jones started Out on the Floor about three decades ago with a weekend stall in Camden Market, moved through various indoor all-week markets, and then took the Inverness Street shop. The name comes from the Dobie Gray northern soul record. Jones left around 2002 but the shop carried on at the same address, and it probably holds as much original-press reggae as anywhere in the country, with the Tuff Scout label working out of the basement. When it opened there were four other record shops in Camden - Rock On, Honest Jon's, Record and Tape Exchange and one on Buck Street - which makes it close to the last one standing where it started. Sources give a length of trading rather than a year, so none is claimed here
