The Oldies Shop saga starts in 1981, when Daniel Hahn, a musician and record collector, typed up a list of records from his own collection that no longer matched his taste and offered them to other collectors by post. The printer pointed out the thing needed a company name, so he wrote Oldies Shop on by hand. Daniel Binggeli joined from the second catalogue on. In 1986 they took a room at the Bollwerk and Bern had its first pure second-hand record shop, weighted then towards rare rock and blues LPs of the years 1964-74. After the Bollwerk lease ended the shop moved to Effingerstrasse 4, and now runs an outlet, a DJ corner and a Discogs shop that sells worldwide.
