Plastic Wax has been on Cheltenham Road since 1978 and holds the largest record stock in the South West - the longest-established and biggest dealer in the region by some distance. The distinguishing feature is not the size but the discipline: everything is graded, sleeved in PVC outers and filed A to Z, so a shop this big stays diggable rather than becoming an afternoon of archaeology. It also carries Bristol Archive Records, the label reissuing the city's own punk, reggae and post-punk back catalogue.
