Prospero's Books was founded in 1997 in the scrum of Kansas City's bohemia on West 39th Street, three floors of books and media in an historic 1890 building: 70 categories and 50,000 titles taking in books, vinyls, CDs and film, plus art and oddities and a running conversation at the counter. They buy and trade books in good condition, for cash or store credit kept on file, and reckon they have been open 362 days a year for 30 years, roughly 10:30am to 8pm.
