Record Grouch started in the basement of a Williamsburg thrift shop and moved up to a sunny Greenpoint room on Manhattan Avenue. Co-owner Doug Pressman's used stock leans to 1970s jazz, oddball European prog and metal, with shelves of CDs and a magazine and indie-press book display alongside. It doubles as a performance space for experimental artists and puts on free live sets, siding with DIY culture and independent labels over anything resembling mainstream retail.
