John Pita, a Villager who had worked at The Golden Disc while at school and then found himself stuck at ABC Records, opened Record Runner with a fellow collector in 1979 on Cornelia Street. In 1981 a friend at Capitol brought three members of Duran Duran into the shop, and the usual clientele was promptly replaced by packs of teenagers - Pita leaned in and turned the place into Duran Duran central, stocking every release, shirt, magazine and book he could get. It has been buying and selling records and collectables for over forty years and is one of the last of the dozens of shops that once filled the neighbourhood.
