Red Cat was started in 2002 and taken on by Dave Gowans and Lasse Lutick, who had met playing music together, when the founders were selling up. It is on Main Street, new and used vinyl and CDs, and the thing everyone says about it is true: it is staffed almost entirely by working musicians, which is either the best or the worst way to run a record shop and here is clearly the best. Voted one of the top ten indie shops in Canada in 2008
