Chris Pepperell opened Red Eye on 23 November 1981, having already managed Sydney's first import record shop back in the seventies. It is now Australia's largest independent record shop and one of its oldest, and its particular point of pride is tracking down the rare, out-of-print and one-off Australian records its customers cannot find elsewhere. It has run a label of the same name too
