Jimmy Repo bought records as a kid, DJed as a teenager and spent the 80s spinning in Atlanta discos before moving back to Charlotte in 1988 to open the original Repo Records, which grew to three brick and mortar stores plus a spinoff called Repo Cheapo. He reopened in 2013 as Repo Record, in the old Heywood Sewing Center on the edge of Plaza-Midwood, and the room is clean, well lit, organised and spacious, with parking front and back. Stock is a huge selection of carefully graded used LPs, new vinyl reissues and CDs across rock, blues, reggae, local, country, jazz, folk, soundtracks, R&B and funk, hip-hop, metal, punk, alternative and comedy, plus rarities, memorabilia and vintage audio gear. They buy new and used vinyl, CDs, cassettes and stereo equipment, and are currently in the market for turntables, receivers, power amps and speakers. Record Store Day participant, with live in-store performances.
