Rock Ape opened on Sturt Street in Townsville in 2019 and is the only independent record shop in the region - which in tropical north Queensland, a very long way from the capital-city scenes, is a real thing to be. New and second-hand, classic rock and pop through to modern indie and rare collectibles, with live performances and listening parties. It is the shop that means far-north Queensland is on this map at all
