Warwick Vere opened Rocking Horse as an import record shop in Rowes Arcade in 1975, and it is now Queensland's oldest and largest independent record shop. It spent twenty-five years on Adelaide Street, traded straight through the Bjelke-Petersen National Party years, and in 1989 won a famous obscenity trial - which tells you the shop was carrying records the Queensland government of the day would rather it had not. It is on Albert Street off the Queen Street Mall now, and has taken the ARIA award for best record store more times than any other shop in the country
