Denmark Street has been the birthplace of the British music industry since the Tin Pan Alley days - Elton John, the Rolling Stones, the Sex Pistols and David Bowie all worked or lived on it - and until October 2024 it had never had a record shop. Rough Trade opened its seventh UK store there over two floors, carrying vinyl across every genre plus books, clothing and limited editions. It is also a return to the area: Rough Trade traded at Neal's Yard from 1988 to 2007. The shop works with venues nearby, from the 2,000-capacity room at Outernet down to The Lower Third.
