Adam Rosen - Shuga Rose when he was DJing, which is where the name comes from - started Shuga online in February 2000, opened his first shop in Eden Prairie, Minnesota in 2004, moved it to Minneapolis from 2007 to 2012, and then brought the whole thing to Chicago. The Milwaukee Avenue shop is one of the largest in the city, opened deliberately late while he waited for enough stock, and it put its whole inventory - a hundred and twenty thousand records at the time - on iPads in the shop so you can search the back room from the floor
