Slow Progress opened in 2022 on Blackfriars Street in Edinburgh's Old Town, an independent vinyl shop with a coffee bar built into it. Stock is a curated new-vinyl selection weighted towards indie-rock, alt-rock, punk, emo, hardcore, post-hardcore and post-rock, with a growing shelf of modern pop, electronica and hip-hop. Fresh Santu coffee and snacks come out alongside the records, and being vegan friendly they will not charge you extra for oat milk. There is a back room for hire, free UK postage over 100 pounds and free click and collect. Worth knowing before you travel: the front of the shop is accessible, but the toilets and back room are up five steep stairs.
