Socorro has been open to the public in the Baixa of Porto since 2023, running a record shop, a bookshop and a live room out of one historic 1954 building, practically unaltered, with a floor given over to each. The books go from children's titles and graphic novels to band biographies and literary classics. The vinyl is filed hard: soundtracks, blues and gospel, Brazil, classical, dub and reggae, exotica, electronic, fado, folk and country, garage and surf, hip-hop, indie, dark wave, jazz, metal and stoner, pop and rock, Portugal, psych and kraut, punk and hardcore, soul, funk and disco, weird and experimental, world. In the cellar, the venue puts on a dozen events a month, running from the most pastoral folk to the most blasphemous black metal.
