Bernard Ducayron and Theo Jarrier had spent fifteen years working in a second-hand shop nearby that had just closed when they opened Souffle Continu in October 2008. Physical sales were at their lowest point in living memory and they opened anyway, on the reasoning that Paris had room for somewhere devoted to experimental music in the broadest sense. In 2015 they started the Souffle Continu label to reissue French experimental and jazz records.
