Soul Food is the record shop side of Hate Records in Rome, and the two share a motto: the only records worth considering are the ones you find in the Hate Records catalogues and in the SoulFood shop. The label end runs to hand-numbered limited editions and reissues of records that had gone stupidly expensive, from the early-sixties rock and roll and twist sides of Jean Luk to the two Datblygu albums, that lethal Welsh post-punk band adored by John Peel, repressed at 350 copies each with the first 50 on coloured vinyl. There is a Bassholes double LP of early 45s and unreleased material in a deluxe textured sleeve, and an LP of 18 never-released Gags punk recordings pulled from demos and rehearsal tapes. Colour-vinyl runs are often mail-order only.
