Sound Bar was founded in Skipton in 2015 by Phil and Miles, with Undercover the first band to play it that May; Dave and Lorraine took it on in 2017 and refitted the place in January 2018, sound system, bar, floor and much needed new loos. Covid closed it in March 2020, and it reopened in its current setting at the end of May 2022. The shop side plays music all day and sells new and used vinyl and CDs across every genre, with local acts playing live in the shop on Sunday afternoons. The bar keeps real ales and continental beers alongside wine, gin, coffee, sandwiches and cake; it took Cask Marque status in 2024 and joined the Music Venues Alliance in 2025, the year it turned ten.
