Sounds has been on Nieuwlandstraat in Tilburg since 2001 with Maarten Koehorst as owner, and started life as an independent old school CD and DVD shop carrying plenty of new and second hand vinyl. Music only, they say, and they have been called a dying breed. The attention goes to pop and rock, black metal, doom, drone, punk and hardcore, blues, soul and funk, singer-songwriter, roots and Americana, and jazz, sold deep and sharply priced with someone behind the counter who knows the stock. Bands play live in the shop regularly, and the shop turns up at concerts selling that band's records. There is art on the walls that you can buy, concert tickets on the counter, and they are open every day of the week.
