T-Rex Records opened at Oostersingel 6 in Leeuwarden on 23 November 2019, after Henk and Foki van 't Zand moved from Burgum, bought a shop unit and rebuilt it as a record shop. The name is a wink at the other Leeuwarden shops, King-Kong and Big Bad Wolf, so a dinosaur it had to be. You walk straight into a wall of music: over 10,000 LPs, 4,000 CDs, 2,000 vinyl singles and a decent pile of DVDs, new and second hand, running metal, hip hop, blues, jazz, trance, rock, punk, pop and country, plus books and merch. A small stage with a drum kit and amps means bands play in the shop every so often. Henk has been collecting, swapping and trading vinyl since his teens, is a serious KISS collector, and published the KISS 7 inch vinyl guide.
