Dan Foley and Ron Korsh, both University of Minnesota students, opened the Electric Fetus in June 1968 at 521 Cedar Avenue South on the West Bank, paying about eighteen dollars a month in rent. The business moved to the corner of 4th Avenue and Franklin in 1972 and has been there since, making it one of the longest-running independent record shops in the United States and a fixture of the Minneapolis scene through every era of it.
