The Feather Star spent four years in a teeny tiny ale house on St John Street before an offer it could not refuse moved it into the main bar of the Red Lion Hotel in Wirksworth, and the little vinyl record store came with it. It sells quality used vinyl alongside new reissues, and stocks new records by the bands that come through the doors to play. The bar pours five cask ales from local and regional breweries, up to 13 craft beers and lagers off the wall of taps, and five real ciders. Upstairs there is live music, talks and art in the Haarlem Artspace gallery, plus hotel rooms if you want to make a night of it. It is friends and family run, on carbon neutral heating and eco waste management.
