The Musical Box has been on West Derby Road in Tuebrook since 1947, which makes it the oldest record shop in Liverpool by a wide margin - it was already a decade old when the Cavern opened. Diane Caine runs it, and the specialism is country and western plus the nostalgic end of the catalogue, a corner of music that the city's Merseybeat reputation tends to bury. It is a genuine survivor rather than a revival, out in a suburb, quietly doing the same thing it has done for nearly eighty years.
