The Poet's Vault opened on South Boulevard because Charlotte needed a record store that took the music seriously, not a boutique using vinyl as decor and not a shop that only stocks the safe and familiar. The name is the idea: a great record collection is a vault of voices, stories and moments, and every genre has its poets, from Delta blues and hardcore punk to bossa nova, hip-hop and free jazz. It carries new and used vinyl across every genre plus CDs, cassettes, memorabilia, pre-orders and Record Store Day exclusives in April and on Black Friday, and it buys collections of all sizes.
