Chris Honetschlaeger opened The Record Parlour on Selma Avenue in August 2013 with Chadwick Hemus, who had been head vinyl buyer at Amoeba in Berkeley. The two came at it from records, vintage audio and coin-op machines equally, and it shows: a quarter of a million records sit alongside refurbished jukeboxes, amps, microphones, seventies turntables and speakers, all of it working rather than decorative. Honetschlaeger keeps close to a hundred jukeboxes in a warehouse and rents them out. The shop puts on live music, which is unusual for a room this full of stock
