Jack White registered Third Man Records in 2001 while the White Stripes were breaking out of Detroit, and trademarked the name in 2004. The first physical location opened in Nashville in March 2009 and holds a record shop, a novelties lounge with the Third Man Record Booth, the label offices and distribution, a photo studio, and the only live venue in the world that can cut direct to acetate while a band plays. This is the Detroit outpost, on Canfield Street.
