Tuff Gong International was founded by Bob Marley in 1965, named for the nickname he carried, and originally based on Orange Street before moving to 56 Hope Road, the house Marley bought in 1975 and lived in until 1981, now the Bob Marley Museum. That site holds the museum, an 80-seat theatre, a photographic gallery, a record shop, a gift shop full of memorabilia and the One Love Cafe. The company later moved to 220 Marcus Garvey Drive, where it runs a recording studio, mastering room, stamper room, pressing plant, cassette plant, wholesale record shop and booking agency. The studio is one of the largest in the Caribbean, still mixing on the same board Bob used on all his records, and the mastering room is where No Woman Nuh Cry, Trenchtown Rock, Stir It Up and Redemption Song were finished.
