Tunes opened on 7 December 1995 in a 900 square foot storefront at 315 Washington Street and moved to 225 Washington in 1999. Chip Heuisler got into the business as a college DJ and joined a friend running shops in Marlton and Ocean City; the first of them, Tunes on the Dunes, opened in Ocean City in 1989. Hoboken carries an ever-changing run of new and used LPs, CDs and films, and the buy-sell-trade counter is the engine of it - collections are actively wanted, vinyl especially.
