Lars Hoffmann opened Underdog in 1997 in a narrow shop on Ritterstraße, directly opposite a Saturn electronics superstore, which is a fair image of what it was for: Dischord, Revelation, Kill Rock Stars, Epitaph, Alternative Tentacles, Victory, Ebullition, Trustkill and SST records began circulating in Cologne outside the mainstream because of it. It has run as a shop, a label and a concert promoter ever since, and sells tickets over the counter
