Makoto Nagatomo ran Weekend Records in Brooklyn before opening Upstairs in Shimokitazawa. It is a shop until nine in the evening and a bar from then until one in the morning - a rare groove kissa, in other words: a room built for listening to loud music and talking over it rather than dancing to it.
