Val's halla Records was born on July 26, 1972, following the demise of a record chain that Val Camilletti had managed from the same location since 1967, and it has been a collector's paradise ever since. The South Boulevard location ran from 1972 to 2006 before the move to its current Oak Park home, and after Val died in 2018 the shop carried on under her spirit, with store manager Shayne, who worked alongside her for two decades. Every musical genre is represented in every format, new and used vinyl plus an extensive CD and cassette selection from complete operas to local Chicago artists, the stage inside hosts local and touring acts, and they are always looking to acquire unwanted LPs, CDs, DVDs and cassettes.
