El Surco began in September 2018 by manufacturing its own outer sleeves, because nobody in Ecuador was making them to a consistent size or gauge; more than 110,000 sleeves later it also sells inner sleeves, brushes and cleaning fluids. A first lot of 10,000 records in January 2019 and an online store that April turned it into a national shop, and the warehouse now holds an active stock of more than 30,000 discs. Turntables, styli and audio equipment followed from 2021.
