Wuxtry has been buying and selling vinyl for 50 years and calls itself Georgia's oldest record store, specialising in new, used and rare records. Dan Wall and Mark Methe started it in Athens in 1976; the Decatur location opened in 1978 and Methe, a Chicago native, still runs it. It has supplied Atlanta, Athens and Northeast Georgia with music in all genres on LP and CD ever since, and it buys or trades good used LPs, 45s and CDs plus music-related products and memorabilia. Rolling Stone picked it as one of the top 25 record stores in America, and the shop describes itself as a walk-in museum of the greatest music and bands of the last century. The Athens original earned its footnote in music history as the place where Michael Stipe met then employee Pete Buck and R.E.M. began.
